Continuing into 2018, our 150th anniversary celebrations
will be held over the same time period from the laying
of our church's corner-stone on 18 May 1867
to the consecration of the church on 22 September 1868.
  1. Launch
    An information evening in the Parish Hall officially launched our 150th anniversary programme. The opening service was attended by His Grace The Most Rev Dr Richard Clarke, Archbishop of Armagh, visiting clergy, sponsors, and local community.

  2. Favourite Hymns
    An evening of 'Favourite Hymns' on Sunday 21 May 2017 officially commenced our 150th anniversary. 12 hymns selected by the parishioners of Christ Church were sung with great enthusiasm by the 200+ congregation. Musical accompaniment was provided by the talented Tullyvallen Silver Band.

  3. Garden Visit
    Parishioners William and Hilary McKelvey opened their 'Model Garden' at 7 Mount Charles North in Bessbrook to the public and almost 300 people availed of the opportunity to view this horticultural masterpiece. Many enjoyed teas in our Parish Hall and many also visited our church for a tour.

  4. Live Issue Concert
    A sell-out concert featuring the country-gospel group 'Live Issue' was held in our Parish Hall on Saturday 16 September 2017. The 2 and a half hour event proved to be a very enjoyable night out which was truly enjoyed by all who attended.

  5. Harvest Services
    Our annual Harvest Celebrations were held in Christ Church on Sunday 22 October 2017. Holy Communion was held at 11.30am with the Sunday School pupils taking a leading role. Evening Prayer was held at 7.00pm. The Senior Choir performed an Anthem at both services.

  6. Inter-church Table Quiz
    A table quiz was held in our Parish Hall on Saturday 28 October 2017 at 7.30pm. Local teams attended and a throughly enjoyable night and supper was had by all. The winning team 'Plus One' won by a mere 3 points from 'Strictly Come Bessbrook'.

  7. Coach Trip to Londonderry
    The first of three visits to three CoI Cathedrals was held on Saturday 25 November 2017. This coach trip to St. Columb's Cathedral in Londonderry was followed by Christmas shopping in the city and an evening meal in Salley's restaurant in Aughnacloy.

  8. Christmas Carol Service
    A large attendance enjoyed our annual Christmas Carol Service on Sunday 17 December 2017. This brought our 150th anniversary events in 2017 to an end.

  9. Parish Visit to Dublin
    A coach trip to Dublin and a tour of St. Patrick's Cathedral was held on Saturday 26th May 2018. As well as a mid-morning picnic, the party enjoyed the company of the Dean and Ordinary of St. Patrick's, the Very Rev William Morton, a former organist of Christ Church.

  10. Family Fun Day
    A fun-filled family day out to Carnfunnock Country Park, Larne was enjoyed by all who attended. A day of brilliant warm sunshine added to the enjoyment as did the evening BBQ before the journey home.

  11. 1) Flower Festival
    Our much anticipated Flower Festival, themed 'Songs of Life', will open to the public from 11.00am to 9.00pm in Christ Church. Displays be floral artiste Marie Cairns will adorn the church with colour and fragrance. Teas & lunches will be available in the adjoining Parish Hall.

  12. 2) Flower Festival Opening
    The Opening Service of the Flower Festival will be held in Christ Church at 7.00pm on Friday 21 September 2018. This will be a Celebration of Holy Communion and all are welcome to come along.

  13. 3) Flower Festival
    Our Flower Festival continues on Saturday 22 September from 10.00am to 9.00pm. Teas & lunches will be available throughout the day in our adjoining Parish Hall. Will include an afternoon organ recital with Rev Dr Peter Thompson (Donaghmore Co. Tyrone).

  14. 4) Flower Festival
    Your final chance to view the magnificent floral displays on show as our Flower Festival draws to a close. The Church will be open from 2pm to 6.30pm for viewing, with teas available in our adjoining Parish Hall.

    Our Flower Festival will come to a close at a special Closing Service of Hymns & Readings on Sunday 23 September at 7.00pm. Please come along and join us!

    Our 150th anniversary Harvest Thanksgiving Services will be held on Sunday 21 October 2018 with Holy Communion at 11.30am and Evening Prayer at 7.00pm.
